Dental caries is developed by acids prooduced by oral microorganisms, especially Streptococcus mutans. In order to investigate the inhibitor of glucosyltransferase from various soil microorganisms were isolated from the various domestic or
foreign
soil,
180 microbial strains, which include actinomycetes, bacteria, fungi. Seven strains of actinomycetes which showed the 50% of inhibitory effect against the loss of calcium ion from the tooth, were isolated from the microbial strains having the
ability
inhibition for the of multiplication of the Streptococcus mutans the major organism causing the dental caries. Ten of actinomycetes and two of fungi strain prodused the inhibitor against the glucosyitransferase. Especially two strains of
actinomycetes
showed 70% inhibition against the enzyme activity.
